The Aftermath of R. Kelly

Kelly (Right) getting emotional during his now viral interview with Gayle King of CBS.

R Kelly is currently 52 years of age who is best known as a former basketball player, singer, songwriter, and record producer. For over twenty years, he has been suspected of sexual abuse with younger girls as well as possessing child pornography. About a decade ago, he was on trial regarding the accusation that he was having sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl. He has also been convicted of paying women off in order for them to keep quiet about the disasters he has caused them. Kelly has also not been viewed too highly in the court of law due to his failure to pay $116,000 in child support to his daughter, which has clearly not helped him any further. In Cook County, Illinois, a judge sent an arrest warrant for Kelly, charging him with a felony regarding criminal sexual abuse. Unfortunately to this day, none of the women who have been assaulted by this man have received justice. He was behind bars in Illinois until he paid the great amount of money he owed, which he did, causing him to be released from prison. Even though he hasn’t received that much attention by the police lately due to the lack of evidence, several investigations have been conducted to find out the truth. Multiple women have come out about the subject. Some have claimed that he would lock them up in his “sex dungeon” which was located in his basement. The women would also be forced to have sexual intercourse with R. Kelly himself as well as the others he supposedly kidnapped. Most of the girls who confessed to their personal abuse stated that he enjoyed going after younger girls, preferably from the ages of 16 through 17 if not younger. R. Kelly has denied all of these situations stating, “Hate me if you want to, love me if you want, but just use your common sense. How stupid would it be for me, with my crazy past and what I’ve been through … Oh, right now I just think I need to be a monster and hold girls against their will, chain them up in my basement.” Prosecutions will still be circulating around the life of Kelly and hopefully the real truth is soon exposed to the public.

3rd Year In Journalism

I love to write and I had a great time in my first year. It helped with my communication skills and writing skills.

I really like writing and I love to play volleyball, soccer, and tennis.

The hardest thing I'm doing now is applying for colleges and figuring out my future.

The 2018-19 Movement Staff is proud to announce the completion of our first newspaper of the year! This year we have also taken the initiative to move the paper to the online service you are currently using. With these great accomplishments, we also thought it would be beneficial that we, as a staff introduce each other to you.
